I find that cocktails are those sorts of things that come and go in and out of fashion. At the moment they are in big time! I was even in a bar last week that had them on tap! Now that’s dangerous!
Cocktails are a great way to add your personal touch to a drink. They don’t always need to be high in alcohol. By creating exciting flavour combinations you can enjoy an alternative to a usual glass of beer or wine. You can either make individual cocktails or for a larger gathering try one of the punch-bowl style recipes.
A handy thing to have especially when serving a large group is a 10 ltr glass jar with a tap. You can load them up with heaps of fruit and ice, set the glasses next to them and walk away!
These recipes are from my fast recipe book.
- 4 limes, cut into wedges
- 1/2 hand of mint
- 1/2 cup coconut sugar
- 250 ml vodka
- 600 ml kiwifruit juice
- 125 ml pineapple juice
Squeeze lime juice into a large glass, then add mint and brown sugar and muddle. Transfer to large jut and add lime wedges, vodka, and juices. Followed by ice and stir well.
- 150 ml Aperol
- 60 ml elderflower cordial
- 2 grapefruit
- 750 ml sparkling wine
- 120 ml soda
Half fill large jar with ice. Add Aperol, cordial and juice of both grapefruit. Pour in sparkling wine and soda water and stir.
Finely sliced grapefruit skin can be added for a little extra bitter.
